How Does the Smart Nora Work?
The Smart Nora uses Bluetooth technology to help snorers stop snoring immediately after they start. The device is snore-activated and inflates the sleeper’s pillow to raise their head, which should cause them to tense their throat muscles and stop snoring.
The Smart Nora has three main parts: a device that “listens” for snoring, an inflatable insert that goes into the sleeper’s pillow, and a pump that sits next to the bed and attaches to the insert.
Part of the Smart Nora is a “Pebble,” a white device that looks similar to a wireless computer mouse. It is meant to sit on a bedside table or attach to the wall above the sleeper’s head. When the Pebble’s microphone picks up snoring, it notifies the pump sitting next to the bed via Bluetooth technology.
The microphone sensitivity is adjustable. There is no app used to manage communication between these devices. They connect directly to each other.
The Smart Nora comes in a dark and light gray felt-covered box. The listening device and pillow insert must be removed from the box to be used, while the pump is meant to remain inside of it. The pump connects to the pillow insert via plastic tubing.
There is a simple control panel in the box that contains a power button and a switch that allows users to set the pump to low, medium, or high. The pump is battery-operated, and the battery must be charged after 24 hours of use.
The pillow insert is white plastic. Online reviewers state that the insert reaches 4 inches in height when it is fully inflated on the “high” setting. The pillow insert is compatible with any standard pillow and pillow case, though the pillow must remain in the same position throughout the night for the device to properly work.
What's Included with the Smart Nora?
The Smart Nora comes with multiple pieces that work together to stop a person from snoring, allowing those around them to remain undisturbed as they sleep. If you purchase a Smart Nora, these are the items you can expect to receive:
- A gray felt rectangular box
- A “Pebble,” the white mouse-like device that picks up sound
- A white holder for the Pebble
- A USB plug-in that fits the Pebble
- A control panel/pump that remains inside the box
- A power charger for charging the pump’s battery
- A white pillow insert
- A pillow insert cover
- Clear tubing that connects the pillow insert to the pump
- Power adapters for European electrical outlets
All of the Smart Nora parts come in the gray felt box and can be returned to the box for travel. The Pebble’s microphone can be adjusted to be more or less sensitive to best fit your needs. The main control unit has three setting options that determine how much air the pump puts into the pillow insert once it is activated. The pillow insert can be used with any standard pillow by being slipped into the pillow case.

What if I’m a light sleeper and the Smart Nora wakes me up?
Most customers report adjusting to the Smart Nora within 7 days of using it. You should sleep with it for an entire week (or more) before deciding how well it works for you.
Also, there are a few options to help keep the Smart Nora from waking you up: set the Smart Nora to have a delayed start, decrease the sensitivity of the Pebble, and decrease the pump strength. If you set the Smart Nora to have a delayed start, it won’t go off within the first 30 minutes of use. People are often easier to awaken during this time.

Where is the best place to put the Pebble?
The ideal location of the Pebble is mounted to the wall or headboard, about 10 inches directly above the sleeper’s head. It can also sit somewhere near the sleeper.
The Pebble should not sit more than one meter away from the sleeper. It also shouldn’t sit near a fan, vent, radio, or white noise machine. The Pebble won’t be as effective if it is placed on a dresser or table that is significantly taller than the bed.
