- Couples with differing sleep preferences. In our tests, the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss performed well across all weight groups and sleep positions. The king and California king mattresses use split layers, which allows couples to adjust the firmness of each side of the bed by repositioning the latex layers.
- Sleepers whose firmness preferences may change over time. Sleepers can adjust the firmness of the Botanical Bliss Mattress by unzipping the cover and repositioning the latex foam layers, which can accommodate slight changes in firmness preference.
- People who want a long-lasting mattress. The Botanical Bliss is constructed of durable latex layers, and we’d expect it to last longer than many mattresses on the market. A 25-year warranty provides additional reassurance.
Not Recommended for...
- People who frequently sleep or sit near the edges. While the Botanical Bliss’s edges are sturdier than many mattresses on the market, our testers did not feel they provided enough support to allow them to sleep comfortably near the edge of the bed.
- Sleepers who like the feeling of sleeping ‘in’ the mattress. Latex has low point elasticity compared to memory foam, which means the pressure of a sleeper’s body compresses a wider area. This means that sleepers will likely experience less hug from the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress than many memory foam and polyfoam mattresses.
- People who have trouble moving heavy objects. The Botanical Bliss Mattress is heavier than many mattresses on the market, so it may be more challenging to move.

How Is the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress Constructed?
Cover
The Botanical Bliss features a knit, organic cotton cover that’s soft to the touch. Cotton is naturally breathable and moisture-wicking to support a cool and dry night’s sleep.
Under the cotton cover, there is a layer of organic New Zealand wool. The wool layer is approximately 1-inch thick, and each mattress uses up to 10 pounds of wool. This layer provides a supportive feel while regulating body temperature. Wool is renowned for keeping heat in while it’s cold and wicking heat and moisture away when it’s warm.
Comfort Layers
All firmness and height options use comfort layers of Dunlop latex, but the exact configuration varies. The 9-inch and 12-inch models use a 2-inch layer and a 3-inch layer of latex in their comfort systems. The 10-inch model uses two 3-inch layers.
For the medium settings, the top comfort layer has an impression load deflection (ILD) rating around 20 and the second comfort layer has an ILD of about 23. ILD measures the firmness of the foam. The top layer of the medium setting is fairly soft, while the second layer is slightly firmer. The top comfort layer of the medium-firm setting has an ILD of about 25, while the second comfort layer is around 30, which offers a firmer feel.
While the mattress arrives with this layering, you can open up the cover and reposition the layers to adjust the feel. King and California king sizes have split layers, so you can also reposition layers between sides, allowing partners to customize the feel of their sides of the bed.
Support Layers
The support layers vary between the height and firmness options.
The 9-inch and 10-inch medium settings feature a 3-inch support layer of 24-26 ILD Dunlop latex. The 12-inch medium setting uses two 3-inch support layers: one of 24-26 ILD Dunlop latex and one of 29-31 ILD Dunlop latex.
The 9-inch and 10-inch medium-firm settings use a 3-inch support layer of 34-36 ILD Dunlop latex. The 12-inch medium-firm setting uses two 3-inch support layers: one of 29-31 ILD Dunlop latex and one of 34-36 ILD Dunlop latex.
Mattress Height
The Botanical Bliss Mattress comes in three height options: 9 inches, 10 inches, and 12 inches. The 9-inch and 10-inch models are approximately average height, while the 12-inch model is high-profile, so it may require extra deep sheets.
All of the mattress heights have comfort systems with between 5 and 6 inches of Dunlop latex plus approximately one inch of wool. These thick comfort systems can help relieve pressure points and provide cradling. While the support layers of the 9- and 10-inch models are not as thick as many mattresses on the market, the durable Dunlop latex still provides the necessary support and stability.

What Are the Firmness and Feel Like?
The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss comes in two main firmness options: medium and medium-firm. The medium setting rates around 5.5 on the 1-10 firmness scale, while the medium-firm falls around 6.5. In addition to these two settings, sleepers can adjust the firmness by unzipping the cover and reorganizing the foam slabs.
While the medium setting has more give than the medium-firm setting, our sleep testers felt like they were sleeping “on” rather than “in” the mattress regardless of the firmness. When compared to memory foam, latex has low point elasticity. This means that pressure on the mattress compresses a wider surface area, which leads to less “hug.”
Our sleep testers felt the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress did not provide as much cradling as many memory foam mattresses, but they enjoyed enough contouring for notable pressure relief.
Ratings Breakdown
Performance Ratings
Next, let’s take a closer look at our performance ratings for the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress. These ratings are based on findings from our internal and external testing teams, as well as reviews from verified mattress owners.
Durability
Based on its construction, we would expect the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss to have a longer lifespan than many mattresses. Latex mattresses tend to last longer than other mattresses on the market.
The Botanical Bliss Mattress uses natural latex, which is more durable than blended and synthetic latex. Additionally, the Botanical Bliss uses Dunlop latex. While both Dunlop and Talalay latex are exceptionally durable, Dunlop is denser, which may make it less likely to deteriorate over time.
PlushBeds also offers a 25-year warranty that protects against defects in manufacturing and materials.
Motion Isolation
To test motion transfer, we had two testers lie on the mattress at the same time and asked one tester to roll around while the other tester felt for movement. Our stationary tester noticed some movement but felt the mattress somewhat dampened the transfer of motion.
Our external testers who sleep with partners noted similar results. While they could feel their partners change position and get into and out of bed, they didn’t feel the motion transfer was great enough to impact their overall sleep significantly.
Because latex tends to transfer more motion than memory foam while providing a bouncier feel, these findings are consistent with most latex mattresses.
Off-Gassing
Right out of the box, our testers noted that the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss had virtually no discernable odor apart from a faint natural smell from the latex and wool. After 24 hours, our testers could not detect any odor whatsoever.
Pressure Relief
To test pressure relief, we placed a pressure-measuring sensory pad on the Botanical Bliss Mattress. We asked sleep testers in different weight groups to lie on it in various positions while we measured pressure build-up.
Our pressure mapping showed that the Botanical Bliss provided relatively even support and cradling, though it did not offer as much conforming as many memory foam mattresses. Some pressure built up around our sleep testers hips and shoulders, particularly for our lightweight side sleepers.
Temperature Neutrality
Our overnight sleep testers stayed cool, dry, and comfortable throughout the night on the Botanical Bliss Mattress.
The organic cotton cover helped wick away moisture, while the breathable layer of wool helped regulate temperature. Natural latex is also relatively breathable, so our testers found it did not trap significant heat. Plus, the Botanical Bliss uses aerated latex to allow additional cooling airflow through the foam layers.
Edge Support
We had testers in different weight groups sit near the perimeter of the bed to test the Botanical Bliss’s edge support. While all of our testers noted some sinkage, this was particularly pronounced for our testers who weigh over 230 pounds.
When our testers lied near the edge of the bed, they also noticed some compression that made them feel they might roll off the edge, which could limit the overall usable surface area.
Noise
The Botanical Bliss Mattress excelled in our noise tests. Our sleep testers didn’t hear any noise coming from the mattress, even when they moved around significantly. Since the Botanical Bliss is virtually silent, it may be a good match for sleepers who are easily disturbed by mattress noises.
Sex
Dunlop latex has a fairly springy feel, which may be beneficial for sexual activity. The responsive latex foam makes it easier to move across the surface of the bed. Additionally, the Botanical Bliss is nearly silent, so it is also highly discreet for amorous activity. However, the edge support may not be substantial enough for couples who like to make use of the entire mattress surface.
Sleeper Ratings
A sleeper’s weight, body shape, and sleep position can influence how a mattress feels to them. To provide a clearer idea of how these factors can shape the sleep experience on the Botanical Bliss, we had sleepers with varying body types and sleep position preferences test the bed.
Lightweight Sleepers – Less than 130 lbs.
Our lightweight sleep testers found the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress performed very well, but they preferred the medium option to the medium-firm option.
The medium option provided enough cradling to help relieve our lightweight testers’ pressure points. Our testers found the medium-firm version slightly too firm, as they were unable to sink into the firmer latex comfort layers enough to enjoy much contouring.
Our back and stomach sleep testers found the Botanical Bliss Mattress most suitable since the latex layers provided a firm, stable surface that prevented their midsections from sinking in too deeply. Our side sleepers rated the Botanical Bliss well, but they noted some pressure in their hips and shoulders. However, the 1-inch wool layer provided extra cushioning and softness.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 to 230 lbs.
The Botanical Bliss received very good ratings from our average-weight sleepers across all sleep positions.
Our back and stomach sleepers appreciated that the medium and medium-firm versions both offered an even, stable surface that prevented excessive sinking without feeling hard. Our side sleepers felt the medium option offered enough give to relieve pressure points while providing the support needed to promote good spinal alignment.
The latex layers of the Botanical Bliss Mattress can be reorganized to adjust the firmness, which may be particularly beneficial for average-weight sleepers looking to fine-tune their mattress’s firmness.
Heavyweight Sleepers – More than 230 lbs.
The medium-firm version of the Botanical Bliss was the best fit for most of our heavyweight testers, who found it provided a good balance of contouring and support.
When sleeping on their sides, our heavyweight sleep testers enjoyed good cradling from the layers of latex. Our back and stomach sleepers noted the mattress provided a relatively stable surface but felt their midsections sunk in a little too deeply for ideal spinal alignment.
The 12-inch, medium-firm model may be a particularly good choice for heavyweight sleepers. The added thickness can provide extra support, while the medium-firm setting can help prevent excessive sinking. Dunlop latex’s exceptional durability can also help it hold up well for heavyweight sleepers over time.

How Does the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Mattress Compare to Other Beds?
Comparing multiple mattress models can give you a clearer idea of the benefits of each option. Below, we’ll compare the PlushBeds Botanical Bliss to six similar models you might also be considering.
PlushBeds Botanical Bliss vs. PlushBeds Natural Bliss
The PlushBeds Natural Bliss is constructed of natural latex, like the Botanical Bliss. However, the Natural Bliss’s construction, firmness options, and height options are different than the Botanical Bliss.
The construction of the Natural Bliss varies between thickness options. The 6-inch model uses two 3-inch layers of Dunlop latex. The 8-inch model uses a 2-inch layer of Talalay latex and a 6-inch of Dunlop latex. The 10-inch model uses two 2-inch-thick layers of Talalay latex and a 6-inch layer of Dunlop latex. The addition of a Talalay layer gives the thicker mattress models provides slightly more bounce and breathability.
Four firmness options are available for the Natural Bliss: Soft (3.5), Medium (5.5), Medium-Firm (6), and Extra-Firm (9). Because the Natural Bliss comes in exceptionally soft and firm settings, it may appeal to sleepers under 130 pounds and over 230 pounds who do not find mid-range settings ideal.
The Natural Bliss is available in three thicknesses: 6 inches, 8 inches, and 10 inches. This range is lower than the height options for the Botanical Bliss, so the Natural Bliss may work well for sleepers who prefer a lower profile mattress, while sleepers who prefer a thicker mattress may gravitate towards the Botanical Bliss.
While the Botanical Bliss contains wool, the Natural Bliss is free of animal products, making it vegan-friendly.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss vs. PlushBeds Luxury Bliss
Like the Botanical Bliss, the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss comes in two firmness settings: Medium (5.5) and Medium-Firm (6.5).
The Luxury Bliss Mattress is 12 inches thick, making it a high-profile mattress. Sleepers who enjoy high-profile mattresses may enjoy the Luxury Bliss or the 12-inch model of the Botanical Bliss. However, those who prefer an average thickness may like the 9- and 10-inch models of the Botanical Bliss.
While the Botanical Bliss is constructed of Dunlop latex, the Luxury Bliss uses coils in its support layer. This enhances airflow and edge support. The additional airflow may provide a cooler night’s sleep for those who tend to sleep hot. People who like to sit or sleep near the perimeter of the bed and couples who want to make full use of the sleep surface may also appreciate the Luxury Bliss’s extra edge support.
Since coils may occasionally produce noise, especially as they age, the Botanical Bliss and its all-latex support system may be better suited for sleepers who tend to awaken easily due to mattress noises.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss vs. Zenhaven
The Zenhaven is a flippable mattress with two firmness options. One side of the mattress rates around 4 on the 10-point firmness scale, while the other rates at about 7. Since the layers of the Botanical Bliss can be repositioned to adjust the firmness, either mattress might be an excellent choice for sleepers whose firmness preferences change over time.
However, the Botanical Bliss’s firmness options hover closer to mid-range, while the Zenhaven’s two options are medium-soft and firm. For sleepers seeking pressure relief, the Zenhaven’s medium-soft side may have an edge, providing enough cradling to relieve sharp pressure points. Heavyweight back sleepers may benefit from the sturdy support of the Zenhaven’s firm side.
While the Botanical Bliss uses Dunlop latex, the Zenhaven’s is constructed entirely of Talalay latex. Talalay tends to be more breathable and bouncier, while Dunlop is usually denser and more durable.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss vs. Latex for Less
The Latex for Less Mattress uses a lot of similar materials to the Botanical Bliss, including natural latex, natural wool, and organic cotton.
One of the most notable differences between the Botanical Bliss and the Latex for Less is that the Latex for Less is flippable. One side of the 9-inch Latex for Less mattress is medium (6), while the other side is firm (7.5). The medium side uses Talalay latex for extra give and responsiveness. The firm side uses Dunlop latex for extra support.
Additionally, the Latex for Less mattress comes in two thickness options: 7 inches and 9 inches. The 7-inch model is low-profile, so it may fit better in small spaces. Both the Latex for Less and the Botanical Bliss offer 9-inch thick models. Sleepers who prefer a thicker mattress may prefer the Botanical Bliss since it is also available in 10- and 12-inch models.
Weight may also play a major role in which mattress is most suitable for an individual. Both mattresses earned high marks from our average weight sleep testers. However, our sleep testers who weigh under 130 gave the Botanical Bliss higher ratings, while our testers who weigh over 230 pounds preferred the firmer feel of the Latex for Less Mattress.
Read our full Latex for Less Mattress Review.
PlushBeds Botanical Bliss vs. Nest Bedding Latex Mattress
The Nest Bedding Latex Mattress comes in two firmness options: Medium (5.5) and Firm (7.5). The medium setting is approximately equivalent to the Botanical Bliss’s medium setting, but the Nest Bedding All Latex Mattress’s firm option is somewhat firmer than the Botanical Bliss’s medium-firm setting.
The Nest Bedding All Latex Mattress is available in natural latex or certified organic latex, so a version of the bed is available at two different price points. For sleepers on a budget, the natural latex model may be a good alternative to pricier organic latex mattress options.
Our testers gave the Nest Bedding All Latex Mattress higher ratings for pressure relief and motion isolation than the Botanical Bliss Mattress. Sleepers with sharp pressure points and those who are easily awoken by their partner moving during the night may prefer the Nest Bedding All Latex Mattress to the Botanical Bliss Mattress.
However, across all positions, our average weight sleep testers rated the Botanical Bliss higher than the Nest Bedding All Latex Mattress.

PlushBeds Botanical Bliss vs. Sleep On Latex 9″
Also called the Pure Green Mattress, the Sleep On Latex Mattress contains organic cotton, organic New Zealand wool, and natural Dunlop latex, much like the Botanical Bliss.
The Sleep On Latex Mattress comes in three firmness settings: Soft (3.5), Medium (5.5), and Firm (7.5). This wider range of firmness options may be particularly appealing for sleepers who weigh under 130 pounds or over 230 pounds. The soft setting can provide extra cradling for lightweight sleepers, while the firm setting can offer extra support to heavyweight sleepers.
The Sleep On Latex and Botanical Bliss both come in a 9-inch thickness. Sleepers who prefer high-profile mattresses may be interested in the 12-inch model of the Botanical Bliss. For sleepers with limited space, Sleep On Latex also produces a 7-inch model.
While the Sleep On Latex uses just one 2-inch thick comfort layer, our sleep testers found it offered more pressure relief than the Botanical Bliss, which may make it appropriate for sleepers who suffer from aches and pains from pressure points. This is particularly true of the soft and medium settings.
