Recommended for...
- Side, back, and stomach sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds. The mattress has a medium-firm feel that supports sleepers in this weight group without sinking too much.
- People who usually sleep hot on all-foam beds. The Nectar does not absorb as much body heat as other all-foam models, largely due to the low- and medium-density comfort layers.
- Couples, particularly those who awaken easily due to movement or noise during the night.
- Value seekers. The Nectar offers unmatched quality at its below-average price-point.
Not Recommended for...
- Lighter weight sleepers under 130 lbs. The mattress may feel too firm for lighter people.
- Sleepers who prefer to sleep “on” versus “in” a mattress. The bed provides a deep, body-hugging sensation that some sleepers find uncomfortable.

How Is the Nectar Mattress Constructed?
Cover
The Nectar Mattress has a cover made from a blend of polyester, polyethylene, and nylon. These materials are soft and breathable. The bottom cover has an anti-slip surface to prevent the mattress from shifting during the night.
Comfort Layers
The mattress has a 2-inch comfort layer gel memory foam. The foam conforms very closely to the body without sinking too deeply. The result is a noticeable body hug that can alleviate aches and pains, prevent pressure points from building, and improve spinal alignment for side sleepers.
The foam also distributes weight evenly and consistently, making the bed especially well-suited for heavier sleepers. The cooling gel helps the material resist bothersome heat buildup.
Transitional Layer
The mattress has a transitional layer of dense polyffoam that measures 3 inches. This component enhances the body-hug sensation of the comfort layer and prevents sleepers from sagging too much.
Support Layers
The Nectar Mattress has a support core of high-density polyfoam measuring 7 inches thick. Along with the transitional layer, the polyfoam base provides a firm base for the softer comfort layers. The result is a balanced, medium-firm feel that conforms closely without compromising overall support.
Mattress Height
The mattress measures 12 inches thick. This is slightly thicker than the average mattress, making it a good option for people who struggle getting on and off shorter beds.

What Are the Firmness and Feel Like?
The Nectar Mattress is an ideal option for sleepers who enjoy surfaces with deep contouring and cradling. This is largely due to the bed’s all-foam design that includes a memory foam comfort layer and polyfoam transitional layer. Most sleepers settle into the mattress for a noticeable body-hugging sensation. This can alleviate discomfort for those with chronic pain, and prevent new aches and pains from forming.
Nectar Sleep advertises the mattress as “plush but highly supportive,” rating it as a 6 on the 1-10 firmness scale. Our testers agree with this assessment. This setting is optimal for many side, back, and stomach sleepers weighing 130 pounds or more. The mattress may be too firm for some lightweight sleepers, and as a result, they may not experience the same pressure relief as heavier individuals.
Ratings Breakdown
Performance Ratings
Next, let’s take a closer look at our performance ratings for the Nectar Mattress. These ratings are based on findings from our internal and external testing teams, as well as verified owner and customer experiences with the mattress.
Durability
Nectar Sleep has been in business since 2016. Due to how new the company is, we’re basing our durability ratings off of the materials used in the bed, quality of construction, and owner experience data over time.
Given the use of dense, high-quality foams and solid construction, we expect the bed to be quite durable based on the average mattress lifespan of 7-8 years. While we recommend the Nectar for average to heavyweight sleepers, there is always the possibility of body impressions over time, so we recommend rotating the mattress regularly. Lightweight sleepers are far less likely to notice any body impressions over the lifetime of the mattress.
Motion Isolation
The Nectar mattress performed very well in our motion isolation tests. Both our internal testing team and our overnight sleep testers found they couldn’t feel any partner movement throughout the night. This is expected of memory foam mattresses with slower response foams, so our findings are on par with initial expectations.
Given that, we believe the Nectar is a great option for sleepers who are easily disturbed by movements on the bed’s surface.
Off-Gassing
We found that the Nectar had a distinct odor for a few days after unpacking, but eventually dissipated and wasn’t an issue after the initial few days. This is quite normal for a memory foam bed, but customers should keep this in mind when purchasing a Nectar mattress.
For a bit more explanation, off-gassing often occurs with newer mattresses because unpacking them releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air. VOCs are relatively harmless but they carry a distinct odor that many liken to plastic or rubber.
Pressure Relief
Body conforming is a key strength of the Nectar Mattress. Our testing found that the memory foam comfort layer absorbs and cradles the body, conforming evenly to different areas and evenly distributing weight across the surface.
Our testers noted that the experience of sleeping on a Nectar is more like sleeping “in” versus “on” a bed, especially for heavier individuals. Those who enjoy that sensation will find the Nectar Mattress comfortable and supportive. On the other hand, people who prefer sleeping on – not in – a mattress may not be as satisfied with the bed.
Temperature Neutrality
Our in-house and external testing found that the Nectar mattress traps some heat throughout a night of sleep. In general, low- and medium-density memory foam layers sleep a bit cooler than higher-density memory foam. Nectar’s comfort layer is less dense and infused with gel, making the mattress a slightly cooler option than other memory foam competitors on the market.
Ultimately the Nectar performed better with temperature neutrality than a lot of all-foam beds out there, but customers should be aware that it does have the potential to sleep a bit warm throughout the night.
Edge Support
The Nectar mattress performed as we expected in our edge support testing. Like other all-foam mattresses, we found significant sinkage when sitting on or sleeping close to the edge. But when compared to similarly constructed mattresses, it did perform a bit better than average, which gave the mattress a slight leg up in our rating for this criteria.
Noise
The Nectar is silent. This is a common trait of all-foam mattresses. Noise from a mattress is usually associated with a coil system in the support core or comfort layers. Since the Nectar features an all-foam design, we found absolutely no noise issues with the bed. Coupled with superior motion isolation, the lack of noise makes the Nectar a great option for sleepers who are easily disturbed during the night.
Sex
The Nectar Mattress, like many competing memory foam beds, responds slowly and doesn’t have the bounce that is usually associated with innerspring and hybrid beds. Some sleepers find this sinkage makes switching positions difficult, which can make sex more challenging. That said, with deeper sinkage comes more traction, so if changing positions isn’t as important to you, the mattress can offer this as a benefit.
The Nectar’s construction makes it produce no noise and hence very discreet during sex. Better-than-average edge support also ensures couples can take advantage of the full surface of the mattress.
Sleeper Ratings
Now, let’s discuss our sleeper ratings for the Nectar Mattress.
The ideal firmness and thickness settings for a mattress largely depend on a sleeper’s body weight, shape, and preferred sleep position. In order to better inform our readers and avoid subjectivity in our review, we evaluated the bed with sleep testers of varying body types and position preferences.
Lightweight Sleepers – Less than 130 lbs.
Our lightweight testers found the Nectar was fairly firm. While the mattress offered good overall support, these testers did not experience the same deep body-cradling and pressure relief as our heavier testers. Instead, lighter weight folks might find the Nectar has a floating feel, owing to its medium-firm build.
Lightweight sleepers typically prefer soft to medium-soft beds because they hug the body closely to alleviate aches and pains. That being said, our testers agreed that people weighing less than 130 pounds who prefer firmer beds will likely find the Nectar comfortable.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 to 230 lbs.
Our average weight testers found the Nectar very supportive. They experienced consistent body-cradling and pressure relief with little to no sagging. This was true across all sleep positions.
Sleepers who weigh 130 to 230 pounds tend to prefer medium to medium-firm mattresses because they offer a balance of cushioning and support. Our testers’ findings for the Nectar were consistent with this general trend.
Heavyweight Sleepers – More than 230 lbs.
Our heavyweight testers also found the Nectar very supportive. They noted some sagging associated with the body-hugging feel of memory foam, but the transitional and base foam layers provided strong reinforcement for the bed.
Most heavyweight sleepers tend to prefer beds with medium-firm to firm settings. Softer surfaces often sag too much on the surface, resulting in uneven support, and the beds are more vulnerable to heavy sinkage along the edges. Although there are firmer beds on the market, our testers believe the Nectar is a good option for heavier people who prefer mid-level firmness settings.
Heavier sleepers also tend to prefer mattresses with thicker comfort layers because they make getting on and off the bed easier. The Nectar’s 2-inch memory foam comfort layer contours to the body without sinking or hugging too tightly, which can be beneficial for people who weigh more than 230 pounds.

How Does the Nectar Mattress Compare to Other Beds?
Comparing models is a crucial aspect of mattress shopping. Below, you’ll find how the Nectar Mattress stacks up against four competing models with similar designs or components.
Nectar vs. The Casper
The Nectar and the Casper are both designed with pressure-relieving memory foam comfort layers and a high-density support system for added stability. They also isolate motion transfer very well and sleep fairly cool compared to other all-foam beds.
However, the Casper is somewhat softer with a medium (5) feel. Lighter people may experience more body-cradling and pressure relief, but heavier individuals may find the bed sags a bit too much. The Casper is reasonably priced given its high-quality design, but also more expensive than the Nectar. For more information, check out our Nectar vs. Casper Mattress Comparison.
Nectar vs. Leesa
The all-foam Leesa is another bed that shares several similarities with the Nectar. Both mattresses have mid-level firmness, and while the Leesa is slightly softer, overall support for both beds is fairly consistent across different weight groups and sleep positions.
The Nectar and Leesa also have comparable designs, including memory foam comfort layers, high-density support systems, and TENCEL™ blend covers. The Nectar costs less than the Leesa, thus making it the higher-value option, but both beds offer high-quality construction at a reasonable price-point. Read more about these two beds in our Nectar vs. Leesa Mattress Comparison.
Nectar vs. Tuft & Needle
The T&N Mattress from Tuft & Needle is constructed differently than the Nectar. Rather than memory foam, the T&N features standard polyfoam in its 3-inch comfort layer and high-density base. Although polyfoam does not cradle the body like memory foam, the T&N Mattress alleviates pressure for most sleepers and isolates motion transfer very well.
Both beds have a similar medium-firm feel. Like the Nectar, the T&N Mattress sleeps fairly cool compared to all-foam competitors. And while the Nectar costs more than the T&N Mattress, each bed offers exceptional quality at a very low price-point. Check out our Nectar vs. Tuft & Needle Mattress Comparison to learn more.
Nectar vs. DreamCloud
The DreamCloud is a mattress with a hybrid construction, rather than an all-foam model. It has multiple layers of memory foam over a bed of pocketed coils. Both mattresses have similar firmness ratings, although the Nectar is slightly softer and better suited to lightweight and average sleepers. The DreamCloud’s firmer feel and coil system gives it a stronger degree of support for averageweight and heavyweight sleepers.
Both mattresses use memory foam layers and perform similarly in a few respects, but their constructions give each distinct advantages. As a foam bed, the Nectar is better at relieving pressure, isolating motion, and absorbing noise. The DreamCloud’s hybrid build boosts its durability, as well as providing more edge support, and helping it to sleep cooler. The Nectar costs less than the DreamCloud, although both beds provide a great value for their price-points. Learn more about how these two beds stack up in our Nectar vs. DreamCloud Mattress Comparison.
