Purple was founded in 2015 by the Pearce brothers, a pair of longtime cushioning engineers who began selling mattresses in 2016. The Pearces invented Hyper-Elastic Polymer in 1996, which was an incredibly soft, durable, and stretchy material used in a variety of cushioning applications.
Their mattress, the Purple Mattress is constructed with their unique ‘Smart Comfort Grid’ comfort layer composed of a two inch thick grid of their unique buckling column gel. The Bear is a memory foam mattress constructed using a top layer of special graphite-gel memory foam. The outer casing of the mattress is made with clinically tested Celliant fibers, which provide a number of demonstrated sleep benefits. Celliant largely promotes restful sleep and bodily recovery.
The Bear has an overall firmness rating of Firm (7), with a strong balance between softness and firmness that suits sleepers of various styles. The graphite-gel memory foam layer provides a cooling effect that disperses heat, which, combined with its cover, providers sleepers with a cooler sleep than traditional memory foam models.
How Is the Purple Mattress Built?

Trial Period Details
The sleep trial period for the Bear mattress is 120 nights, starting based on the delivery confirmation date. Bear requires a minimum trial period of 30 nights before it is possible to request a return or exchange. Bear will arrange to pick up returned mattresses for free. Refunds will only be given if the mattress is removed from your home by an authorized party of Bear Mattress LLC and the removal is confirmed by Bear Mattress LLC.
Only one return or exchange of any mattress will be allowed per customer, household, and/or delivery address. Returns are only valid on your first order. You will not be able to return or refund an exchanged mattress, since an exchange counts as a second order.
No returns, exchanges, or refunds will be given after 120 nights. Place a call with Bear in order to initiate a return or exchange.
Warranty
The lifetime warranty starts on the original purchase date. If the mattress is deemed defective during this period, Bear will cover any of the repair or replacement costs for the mattress, as well as transportation costs involved.
The Bear Mattress warranty includes coverage of the following defects:
Visible and lasting indentations greater than 1.5 inches not related to misuse of the mattress or improper bed frames.
Physical flaws in the mattress which cause the memory foam to split or crack, given normal use and handling.
Bear’s warranty is only valid for the original purchaser of the product. You must buy the mattress from Bear or an authorized dealer in order to be considered an original purchaser. A receipt or other original proof of purchase will also be required in order to make a claim under Bear’s warranty.

Bear ships through FedEx to anywhere within the United States or Canada. An email with shipping confirmation and tracking numbers will be sent to you the next business day after purchase.
Any adjustments to the delivery after ordering must be made through FedEx, specifically FedEx Delivery Manager.
Orders typically arrive within two to seven business days.
No signature is required upon delivery and no one needs to be home to receive the delivery. The option to require a signature for delivery is available at checkout.
Bear does not ship mattresses to Army Post Office (APO) addresses, as FedEx cannot deliver to them.

Trial Period
Purple offers a 100-night sleep trial for the Purple Mattress.
The sleep trial period for the Purple Mattress is one hundred nights, starting from the date of delivery. Purple requires a minimum trial period of twenty-one nights before it is possible to request a return or exchange.
Eligibility for a return or exchange requires that the mattress is:
Still within the sleep trial period.
Clean and undamaged.
Owned for the minimum twenty-one night trial period.
Returns and exchanges must be initiated through a phone call to Purple’s Customer Care line. Once the mattress’s eligibility is confirmed, the return/exchange process will begin.
The mattress will be refunded for its full purchase price minus any discounts, interest accrued, and/or shipping charges.
Only one exchange is allowed. An exchange requires both a return of the original mattress as well as a purchase of a different size or model. The initial mattress purchase will be refunded immediately.
If an order for a replacement mattress is not placed within thirty days of this refund, then Purple will charge again for the first mattress.
If the mattress is exchanged, the sleep trial period will continue to run either from the delivery date of the first mattress, or for thirty days from the delivery of the second mattress, whichever is greater.
If you order your Purple mattress off of Amazon, you will have to follow their return policy rather than Purple’s. Amazon has a thirty day return policy.
Warranty
Purple offers a 10-year warranty.
The ten year warranty period begins on the original purchase date of the product. If the mattress was sold by Purple or an authorized dealer in the USA, it can be covered under warranty.
Warranties will only apply to the original purchaser of the product, and only if the mattress was used for normal in-home use.
If a warranty claim is deemed valid, Purple will decide whether to repair the mattress or replace it with another of the same model. The warranty covers defects due to faulty workmanship or materials which include:
Visible indentations in the mattress greater than one inch compared to surrounding areas, after the mattress has fully recovered from applied weight and pressure.
Materials cracking, splitting, or otherwise failing under normal use and normal handling as outlined by Purple.
Purple’s terms of what is considered proper storage, use, and mattress support are very specific. The mattress must be used on a firm, flat, and non-spring foundation that is sufficiently strong starting from the delivery date through the warranty claim.
Purple may require the purchaser to provide proof that the mattress was stored, used, and supported properly.
The warranty will be voided if:
The mattress is used with other kinds of foundations.
The mattress is placed in a storage facility for any amount of time.
The mattress is not used with a sufficient frame. Note that for Queen size beds and larger, a sufficient bed frame needs to have five or more legs, including a center support.
The mattress is soiled, damaged, abused, or neglected.
