How Does the Dreem 2 Work?
The Dreem 2 is a headband worn while sleeping. The band extends around the back and across the top of your head and forehead to collect thousands of data points every night while you sleep.
Using technology similar to that used in sleep centers, the Dreem 2 has multiple sensors: EEG sensors to measure brain activity, a pulse oximeter to measure your heart rate, and an accelerometer to track your movements during the night.
The device is also equipped with a microphone to detect breathing disturbances, but that feature has not yet been activated on the current version.
The Dreem 2 headband is also equipped with a powerful microcomputer to store and analyze the data collected by the sensors and then turn it into actionable insights, which are shared via app on your mobile device via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
You can then view a report detailing your sleep, learning exactly how long you sleep, how often you awaken, and how well you slept based on your vital signs throughout the night. The report will also compare your sleep to other Dreem users, and help identify both your good and bad sleep habits.
The Dreem 2 also has a bone conductor, which transmits sounds directly without the need for headphones. The devices transmits sound by vibrating your forehead, which in turn sends the sound to your inner ear. With this feature, you can listen to white noise or a series of guided meditations to help you relax and sleep, without disturbing anyone else. Only you can hear the sounds.
What makes Dreem 2 different from other trackers is the level of personalization it provides. In addition to providing reports about your sleep quality, the tracker also gives you insights and coaching to help you improve your sleep based on the information in your sleep reports. The app provides tips and guidance to help you improve your sleep, and gives you access to trained psychologists and sleep experts who can provide 1-on-1 guidance on demand.
To get the most from the Dreem, you need to record at least seven nighttime sessions, which do not have to be consecutive. Using the device consistently unlocks modes for napping and relaxing, as well as Dreem’s sleep programs. These programs, which range from 2-6 weeks long, are designed to help you improve your sleep. For instance, one program is focused on for people with chronic sleep trouble, giving them ideas on how to restructure their sleep.

What's Included With the Dreem 2?
The Dreem 2 sleep tracker comes with the headband, a charger, and access to the app, which is compatible with both Apple and Android devices. The flexible foam and fabric headband can be adjusted to fit different head sizes, and is designed to be comfortable throughout the night.
In order to work as it should, the headband must be positioned properly. Although this can be challenging in the beginning, your sleep report will alert you to a problem with the headband position and provide tips for improvement so you’ll receive more accurate readings.
The headband uses bone conduction to provide a variety of sounds and meditations to help you relax, fall asleep, or wake up. This eliminates the need for headphones, and ensures you won’t disturb others.
The available sounds range from standard white noise machine sounds or ocean recordings, to more specialized sounds like purring cats. Some of the guided meditations also include a voice.
Our reviewers found that the bone conduction method worked fairly well, but reported some of the quieter noises are harder to hear.
Using the Dreem 2 app, you can set bedtime reminders and wake-up alarms. The tracker also includes a lifetime membership with 24/7 access to trained sleep experts and psychologists via the app. After your first sleep report is generated, you’ll receive a call from a sleep expert who will go over your report with you and make tailored recommendations to improve your sleep. As you work through your program, you can request additional help as needed.
